Barry D. Shalov

Mr. Shalov is a leading business advisor and attorney with over 40 years of experience in completing complex mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, public and private financings, sophisticated equipment leasing transactions and corporate restructurings.  He regularly counsels senior management, corporate boards, controlling stockholders and other stakeholders and high-net-worth individuals on corporate and securities matters, general business matters, executive compensation and creditors' rights.  Mr. Shalov is a Managing Director of Quest.

 

Currently, Mr. Shalov is a key member of the Quest team engaged as the Plan Administrator for Adelphia Communications Corporation.  Mr. Shalov is working closely with management to resolve complex disputed claims and related litigation, as well as addressing all tax and other regulatory issues to maximize the recovery to unsecured creditors.

 

His turnaround experience includes an assignment representing Physician Computer Network, Inc. a publicly-held company that specialized in providing practice management software to the medical industry.  Mr. Shalov successfully restructured PCN, led it through a bankruptcy proceeding in which all  fraud claims were resolved favorably and all creditors were paid in full.  Mr. Shalov was a key advisor to the management of Alert Holdings, Inc. in its reorganization.  Mr. Shalov also represented the largest individual partner in the Boesky Limited Partnership in negotiations with the Partnership's investment bankers, accountants and others who asserted claims against the Partnership.  With Mr. Shalov's leadership, claims were favorably resolved to the benefit of the Limited Partners, each of whom received proceeds in excess of original investment.  Mr. Shalov received international recognition for his successful engineering of the sale of Alaris Medical Systems, Inc., the $2 billion publicly-held medical products company, to Cardinal Health, Inc. in 2004.

 

Prior to joining Quest, Mr. Shalov was a senior partner in the Corporate and Securities Department at DLA Piper Gray Carey US, LLP.  Prior to DLA, Mr. Shalov was a senior partner at Gordon, Altman, Butowsky, Weitzen, Shalov & Wein, a law firm he founded with others in 1975.

 

Mr. Shalov began his legal career at the law firms Fried Frank Harris Shriver and Jacobson and Kramer Levin Naftalis and Frankel.  He is a Vietnam veteran.  Mr. Shalov graduated from Brooklyn College and received his LLB from Cornell Law School.
